Meaningful Marketing

If you are like millions of other people, you get bombarded everyday with spam advertisements, on-line advertisements, radio, TV, billboard, etc.  If you are an advertiser, how do you get your message through all of the advertising clutter out there?  You need to provide you clients/potential clients with information or tools that they actually want and/or need.  Customers welcome getting advertisements that provide useful tools and or information.  Instead of having to force your message onto your consumers, you will find that your advertising will spread on its own, from people sharing your information amongst each other.  You may experience people contacting you asking you to send the information to them.

Prior to opening my own online design and marketing strategy company, I was a marketing director and media buyer in various industries.  One example of a meaningful marketing piece that I used when in the steel industry was a weight calculator.  It was a wheel that you could rotate to your grade of steel, thickness, and dimensions and it would calculate the material weight.  We sent this to our clients and prospects and they kept it on their desk and used it daily.  It had our logo, phone and address, so when they were ready to order their materials, they could easily call us.

Large wall calendars are another useful advertising tool.  People hang them on their walls and it is a constant all year reminder of your contact information.

Another example of meaningful marketing would be newsletters that contain actual news about your industry, not just brochures in disguise.

You could do an events calendar that lists events that your clients might be interested in.

When planning your marketing and advertising this year, try to think of how you can implement some useful marketing/advertising items into your budget.
